On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10am, McAuliffe scholars led a peaceful walkout. The original walkout date of March 14 scheduled to align with the national walkout was postponed due to snow.

The main purpose of this peaceful and silent protest was to take a stand on gun safety and keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of people who intend to abuse them and cause harm. No one who goes to our school or any school for that matter should be afraid or feel unsafe in their learning environment. During the walkout, we honored the 17 victims at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida by reading each name and then following it with one minute of silence.

Kudos to the scholars who planned this event in partnership with school leaders.

Special thanks to the Framingham Police who attended the event as a show of support and solidarity.
