McAuliffe scholars prepare for and facilitate two student-led conferences (SLCs) per year. Instead of a meeting where teachers and parents discuss a scholar’s progress, the scholars themselves present to their crew leader and parents/guardians. This follows our drive for scholars to be leaders of their own learning and reflective citizens. Scholars spend a few weeks gathering past learning trackers, considering their work on HOWLs, and writing a script for their SLC. To learn more about SLC's click here.

Passages represent the culmination of an 8th grader’s time at McAuliffe. During these presentations, each 8th grader presents in front of a panel to reflect on his or her time at McAuliffe and argue why he or she is prepared for 9th grade.
